15/06/2022 - Were you out and about for Cruinniú na nÓg?

For the first time since 2019, children and young people across Donegal had the opportunity to unleash their creative spirit in a huge range of events for Cruinniú na nÓg.

2022 marked the 5th year of the national day of youthful creativity and in Donegal 24 venues offered creative opportunities including music, dance, baking, art, play, theatre, drama and much more.

Over 30 events took place from Moville to Magheroarty on Saturday 11th June and there were also opportunities to participate at home with hundreds of activity packs delivered to doorsteps or collected from 18 venues across the county. The videos created in the lead up to Cruinniú by young people are available to view at Wainfest.ie

Described by participants across the county as “fantastic”, “exciting”, “imaginative” and “a lovely experience”, the return to live events was a big hit for the hundreds of children and young people who participated on the day.

If you participated in any Cruinniú activities, Donegal County Council’s Culture and Creativity team would love to hear your views by completing a short form available at Wainfest.ie to help improve the Donegal Cruinniú programme.

The date for Cruinniú na nÓg 2023 is yet to be announced but later this year Wainfest, Donegal’s Annual Arts and Book Festival for Children, will take place from the 8th to 16th October 2022 where young people and their families can enjoy cultural and creative activities across Donegal once again.
